The Google rating alone is not enough: a 4.9 from 12 reviews does not beat a 4.6 from 3,000. Our score takes into account how many people are behind the rating.
On Google, the second one would look better (4.9 vs 4.6). Here, 3,000 reviews weigh more than 12.

How to pick a good restaurant
TopRestaurante.ro brings ratings, reviews and votes for 12,051 restaurants in 317 cities together in one place. Every city has its own ranking, and the most popular cuisines have separate rankings too. That way you compare places that can actually be compared and find it easier to choose where to eat.
A Google rating quickly shows what people think, but a single number is easy to be fooled by. A place that opened a month ago can have 4.9 from 15 reviews, while one with ten years in business has 4.6 from 3,000. The second is usually the safer choice.
Here, restaurants are grouped by city and by cuisine, so you compare places that can actually be compared. A pizzeria in Cluj does not compete with a sushi bar in Bucharest. Every ranking has its own score, calculated the same way for every restaurant.
On each restaurant page you can see where the score comes from: the Google rating, reader votes, opening hours, address and recent reviews.

No. The score is calculated the same way for every restaurant, and a place in the ranking cannot be bought.
How often does the ranking change?
The score is recalculated with every new vote. A restaurant that receives many new reviews can change its position in the ranking.
What are the best restaurants in Romania?
The ranking is city by city, because a restaurant can only be compared fairly with others in the same city. Pick a city on the home page to see its top list, then narrow it down by cuisine, for example pizza or burgers.
How do I choose a good restaurant in a new city?
Look at the rating and at the number of reviews, not the rating alone. A 4.6 from 3,000 reviews is a safer choice than a 4.9 from 15. Open the city ranking, pick the cuisine you like and check the opening hours, the address and the recent reviews on the restaurant page.
How reliable are Google ratings?
They are a good starting point, but a rating on its own can be misleading, especially when it has few reviews. That is why we do not stop there: our score also takes into account the number of reviews and the votes from our readers.
